  • Hi Anita.  Thanks for the friend request.  Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  I've been offline for a few months and only now catching up.   Always nice to make new friends.  lol.  Hugs and blessings and happy stamping. - Jean

  • Hi Anita and welcome to CSL.

  • Hey Anita!  Well I would say get the basics in ink, maybe basic black, chocolate chip and a few colors that go well together.  The "collections" are the best deal, but you also have to buy them all at once.  So if there is a collection that you love I would go for that.  The getting started cardstock is a nice variety, but keep in mind you only get two sheets of eacj color, so you my want to get a pack of white or vanilla, and a couple colors of cardstock you love and that coordinate with the ink that you selected,  I would probably get a pack of envelopes and a set or two.  Fabulous Florets (pg 83), Papillon Potpourri (pg 115) Cute and Curly (pg 138) and Make a Cake(pg 44) are all great starter sets.  It really depends on what you want to spend, but I would say what you need is the basics-paper, ink and stamps.  Keep it simple for your guest and they will be happy and successful.  You can always add designer series paper, ribbon and buttons later.

Also be sure to go to the training tab on stampinup.com.  it has some usful info on workshops.  Hope this helps!!
