Hi Vickie, you are so welcome for the help, and I appreciate your kindnesses shown also! :) Have a Fabulous time this weekend with your group and in making our French Foliage card! God bless, Donna
Hi Vickie,
I'm glad I saw your comment again on my French Foliage card http://www.stampinconnection.com/photo/french-foliage-359?xg_source...
It's certain I'll get your messages if you go to My Page and write in the box in case I wouldn't realize you'd left a comment on my card. I wrote so many comments today that yours could've gotten buried.
Anyway, let me know if there is anything else that I can answer for you; it's my pleasure. Have a great time on Sat. with your ladies! :) Donna
Gosh... another NOTE:
Technique: I don't recall where I learned it (Dawn Olchefske maybe??) but the idea is to make a straight-lined cut until cutting around an image. The video I watched used a ruler and X-acto knife to do that. I used my paper trimmer but that was a tad challenging to know where to stop trimming.
I've seen this technique done with a border of flowers and also with the three big fat butterflies from a "last year's" set. Becky Roberts made a card using this technique and cut around the tail on a critter from the "Storybook Friends" set.
IHTH Vickie! Best wishes!! Donna
Hi Vickie, How are you? Thanks SO MUCH for your generously kind words on my French Foliage card (or, er, about my work)!!!! I'm a "regular joe" so comments like that really make me soar... Thanks so much!
Here's the link/my response within, to that card: http://www.stampinconnection.com/photo/french-foliage-359?xg_source...
The dimensions were all about fiddling and deciding what appealed to me. These were made for a DL swap.
NOTE: I had also embossed the Cherry Cobbler with the wood grain EF!
NOTE: The VV c/s is trimmed smaller than usual so that you can see the card base more and also allow the Cherry Cobbler to be seen more clearly as a vertical bar of color.
I do tend to start with plain computer paper so as not to waste c/s. Stamp the leaves and trim and make decisions there and then lay it over a card sized c/s to determine how wide you want that Cherry Cobbler piece to be.
I do hope that helps you! Have a wonderful time working with your group this weekend!
Any other questions, just holler! Have a terrific week! Warmly, Donna
I am flattered that you want to "case" my card. The medallion was in More Mustard and I used Old Olive and Crushed Curry Markers and dropped them several times onto the medallion before stampin it. Originally I was just randomly doing it then I started dropping the old olive on the leaves and the crushed curry on the flowers. That helped me to go faster and be more consistant. The technique is called Thumping. I stamped the leaves behind the words in So Saffron. The DSP I was able to get 6 to a sheet. Card 5.5 x 4.25 DSP 4 x 5.25 then in Early Espresso 3.25 x3.25 and white 3x3 to stamp the image on. Hope this helps. I ran out of time on these. I was planning on using the double scallop in old olive to go across like a ribbon under the oval with the words on it. With everything I had going on last weekend I ended up being 20 min late since I was finishing up on my swaps! I am planning on using the card for a class I am going to do on Oct 16th. it will be my first class. I have so many that are interested but are not really wanting to do the get all your friends together thing since they have never stamped before and truely want to learn. Wish me luck!
