  • I'm glad that you found the ruler! I would love to see what you make with this technique. Would you please let me know when you post? Thanks and have a wonderful week!!

  • You are very welcome Michelle, but I can't take credit for this technique. I learned it about it a couple of years ago on the 'Indigo Inklings' blog- now that gal is a genius, lol! I believe she is the 'official' originator of this technique. Hope you have fun with this technique! Have a great week!

  • Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your question about how I got the embossing on just one area of the inside of my 'Too Kind' card. I used a 1" wide OmniGrid acrylic ruler in place of the top clear plate. The rulers are the same thickness as the clear plates for the Big Shot.

To do this technique layer your Big Shot from the bottom: Multipurpose Platform on tab 1, clear plate, card stock inside the embossing folder, position your clear acrylic ruler over the area you want embossed on top of the embossing folder, (DO NOT use the top clear plate), run your ruler sandwich through the Big Shot and it will emboss just the area where the ruler was. If the sandwich is too tight for your machine, then use no tabs.

If you don't have an acrylic ruler, you can also make a 1" wide template to use from ROL gasket that you can buy by the roll from an automotive store. It's not very expensive, but you would have to cut two 1" pieces, layer them, and glue them together to get the same thickness as the clear plate. Use the gasket material one in place of the acrylic ruler, but make the sandwich the same. Let me know if you have any questions!
