  • After 10 years as a dirt archaeologist, I landed a temp job teaching anthropology at my local community college (1 hour drive away). I teach online as much as I can.

I did my graduate work in Anthropology and History. Turns out to be a lousy combination. The colleges all offer jobs as "slash" positions. First they offered an anthropology/sociology job then the next year a history/political science job. I have taken 1 class in soc and 1 in poli sci, so I don't qualify for either full time jog. That is why I am a temp. When they can afford to hire a full timer, they will replace me. The economy in California is so bad, I am set for a while!

I teach all the classes, but because it fills a requirement, my most popular class in Physical Anthropology, so I teach that every semester, and a lab every other semester. Like most anthropologists, I hated Physical, but only barely consider myself qualified to teach it because I know bones better than most! (Oh, and I knew the prof who wrote our text - took my osteology course from him.)

I would love to discuss what you want to do with your degrees with you. You can email me at darskee2000@yahoo.com (hope to meet you at convention).

  • Glad it got there!  And I always do more because it makes me so nervous stamping for someone else!  lol  Enjoy!  :)
  • Don't forget to send me your address and how you would like me to do this.  Do you want the 81/2 x 11 cut into quarters and then the tools stamped about a 1/2 inch apart, or do you have something else in mind?   bethstokes.21708@yahoo.com
