Cynthia,
I used the directions from the following blog to make the basket. http://mbgdesigns.com/main/
For the rainbow I used a piece of 1 x 8 1/2 inch card stock, you can use any color and cut 6 pcs of rainbow colors of card stock cut the size 3/16 x 8 1/2. Put on these strips on the 1 x 8 1/2 inch. Cover the 1 x 8 1/2 inch with sticky strip. That's it. Very simple.
