  • Hi Barbara,

I'm not sure which of the two Ornamental Pines cards your customer was referring to so I have written for both of them.

    Gold and white card.

Card stock is a heavy white and old gold coloured pearlescent stock, not SU although at the time I think they carried something similar called Brushed Gold and Shimmery White in the 2015 catalogue. (On the listing I called the beige card Crumb Cake but I think in hindsight and looking at the photo it may have been the pearlescent gold instead, although I think Crumb Cake would work just as well.
The Embossing folders for the back ground and the border were both Anna Griffin (Snow Flurry and Noel Border), on the dots of the background I dabbed a Sakura Gelly Stardust pen in clear glitter then brushed out with a water brush to lighten and smooth out the shimmer.
For the Ornamental Pines panel I stamped in Versamark and embossed using white embossing powder. After heating I used Blendabilities in Old Olive and Skin Tone Assortment with possibly a bit of Crumb Cake I traced over the top of the white embossing powder aiming to leave the ends of the needles white to look like snow or frost on the ends. (I was aiming for neat colouring but was doing it late a night in light conditions that were not as good as they seemed at the time and it was only the next day when I realised how bad the colouring was and that I had got the pen all over the background but I went with it as I decided that it gave a bit of depth and shadow and looked more intentional than a mistake (I hope)). I did the same for pine cones, kind of randomly brushing the pen on darker and lighter in places for depth, the cut them out by hand as close to the stamping as possible and mounted them onto the panel using 3D glue gel. I used the same brown pens for the branches.
The whole panel is then also raised from the background using foam pads (2mm if memory serves me correct). The sentiment is embossed in gold and raised with 1mm foam pads.
The gold pearls are plain shiny metallic gold domes.
    Navy Card.
I used Night of Navy, the same white pearlescent card and silver mirri card.
For the stamping I used silver embossing powder for the branches coming in at the top, but used white embossing powder coloured after heating with the same colours and messing colouring technique I used on the white and gold card. For the snowy background I used Craft Whisper White ink and Iridescent Ice embossing powder stamped over the top of the branches using the small splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. For the bauble I stamped in versamark and silver embossing powder and shaped using a large ball tool from behind to make it look round and after stamping and embossing the hanger in silver over the top of the branch I attached the bauble with 3D glue gel.
I think I used a large corner rounder for the curved corners (not sure what, I think it may have been a pair of old Fiskars corner shaper scissors). The whole panel is raised from the background with foam tape and the sentiment raised on foam tape above the panel.
    Hope this helps.
